The original is sacred
It is signed, verified, and never modified — not by an admin, not by a migration, not by a bug. There is no operation in the product that edits it. Every change lives somewhere else.
About /
That is the day they start.
Ask most organisations what a given contract currently says and you will not get an answer. You will get a signed PDF, a folder of amendments, two side letters, and an email thread where someone agreed to something on a Thursday.
None of that is negligence. It is what happens when the tooling stops at signature. Contract lifecycle systems are built to get an agreement signed; almost nothing is built for the years afterwards, which is where the money and the risk actually live.
ChangeSteward exists for that gap. We do not author contracts. We do not manage your pipeline, your templates or your negotiation. We own one narrow, high-value job: taking an already-signed agreement and safely managing every change made to it over its life.
Principles /
It is signed, verified, and never modified — not by an admin, not by a migration, not by a bug. There is no operation in the product that edits it. Every change lives somewhere else.
Always current, always derivable, always addressable by version and hash. If a stored copy ever disagrees with a fresh computation, the computation wins and we treat the difference as an incident.
Editing, discussion, risk and approval sit together on one screen. A decision made without the comment thread or the risk position in view is a worse decision, and burying them three clicks apart guarantees it.
“Enforced in the data layer” is meant literally. These are not values on a wall — they are properties of the schema and the API surface. The operation that would mutate an original agreement does not exist to be called, and the working contract is recomputed and compared on every read.

Send us one messy contract — the one with all the amendments nobody can keep straight. We'll show you what it says today and where you're exposed.
